Winters are the quietest time for B&Bs unless there is a festival or event in the area.  This is the time to look at your online planning and see what you could do to improve your presence.

It is understandable that you may never have used Facebook before.  However it is now the de facto location for many to be online and they expect businesses to have a business page.

A well designed Facebook page will encourage visitors to come to your business and website to make bookings.  It is worth the time spending time to create a business Facebook page.  Do not use a personal page as Facebook does not allow this.

It is also important to keep it up to date with relevant information and newsy articles.  Many of the more successful B&Bs pay people to do this or use a technically minded relative to help. 

Be careful however of what you post and that your message is consistent and professional.  

Getting Likes

Here is a way to get Likes on your business Facebook page.  Ask people!

Yes ask friends and visitors who have stayed with you.  Send them an email saying you now have a Facebook page and would love it if they would like it.

Great content on your Facebook page also encourages sharing and follow on likes.  When we are asked how often you should update your Facebook page we say as often as you have useful and relevant information.
